On gender violence (or how I get angry sometimes).
Chris Brown should in no way be praised, rewarded, or supported.
If he were to demonstrate that he truly is sorry for what he has done and that he has learned from it, maybe I would feel different. But he is an explosive, immature asshole who does not deserve to be praised or given awards. He hasn’t learned a thing.
Oh my god, thank you. I was starting to lose hope amongst all the Breezy-related fangirliness.
In that vein, regarding tweets like “I’d let Chris Brown beat me up anytime :)”, it is absolutely unacceptable to make light of domestic abuse. And yes, you are making light of domestic abuse in posting messages like that. However tongue-in-cheek and “just showing your support” you may think you are being, supporting his abusive behavior being glossed over without repercussion or consequence is yet another way that we condone gender violence in our society. While abusers get away with such atrocious actions, especially ones as massively mediacized as the Rihanna/Chris Brown case, we are left with the reality that 1 in every 4 women will be a victim of domestic violence in her lifetime. This is unacceptable.
And he sounds like a cat on methadone, though that opinion can be contested. What is above, however, cannot be. Chris Brown is an abuser.
